Tour FAQs
What does the Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar tour cover?
This 13-day itinerary covers Nairobi, the Giraffe Centre, Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Arusha and Zanzibar. It combines wildlife safaris in Kenya and Tanzania with two leisure nights in Zanzibar.
How many days are recommended for a Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar tour?
A combined Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar holiday normally needs at least 11 to 14 days because it includes two countries, several national parks, a land-border crossing and an island stay. This itinerary is planned for 13 days and 12 nights.
Where does this East Africa safari start and end?
The tour begins at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya, and ends at Zanzibar Airport in Tanzania. Travellers therefore need a multi-city international flight plan rather than a simple return ticket to the same airport.
Which safari parks are included in the itinerary?
The itinerary includes Lake Nakuru National Park, Masai Mara National Reserve, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park.
Does the package include both Kenya and Tanzania?
Yes. The first part covers Nairobi, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara in Kenya. Travellers then cross into Tanzania for Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara, Arusha and Zanzibar.
Is Zanzibar part of Tanzania?
Yes. Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous part of the United Republic of Tanzania. The same Tanzania immigration framework generally applies, but Zanzibar may have additional entry requirements such as its own mandatory inbound travel-insurance policy.
Does this tour include a Zanzibar beach holiday?
The itinerary includes two nights in Zanzibar with leisure time. No specific beach tour, Stone Town tour, spice-farm visit, water sport or sightseeing activity is listed, so such experiences should be treated as optional unless added to the confirmed package.
Is this a safari-and-beach package?
Yes. The itinerary combines game drives in Kenya and Tanzania with a leisure stay in Zanzibar. This combination is commonly described as an East Africa safari and beach holiday.
Is this package suitable for a honeymoon?
Yes, it can be customised as a Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar honeymoon package. Couples can request private safari transportation, upgraded lodges, romantic dining or a longer beach stay in Zanzibar, subject to availability and additional cost.
Is this Kenya and Tanzania safari suitable for families?
Yes, but families should consider the long road journeys and early-morning game drives. Riviera Tours & Travel can help select family-friendly lodges, appropriate rooms and suitable safari schedules based on the children’s ages.
Can senior citizens take this tour?
Senior travellers can take the tour if they are comfortable with long drives, uneven safari roads and multiple hotel changes. Travellers with health or mobility concerns should consult their doctor and discuss accessible room and vehicle requirements before booking.
Is this itinerary suitable for a private group?
Yes. It can be arranged for couples, families, friends or corporate groups. The vehicle type, lodge category, room allocation and tour services can be planned according to group size.
Is this a fixed group departure?
The supplied itinerary does not mention fixed departure dates or guaranteed group operation. It should be promoted as a private or customised tour unless Riviera Tours & Travel officially announces a group departure.
Can the itinerary be booked from Ahmedabad?
Yes. Riviera Tours & Travel can plan the package for travellers departing from Ahmedabad and other cities in Gujarat or India. International flights will usually require one or more connections, depending on the airline and travel date.
Are direct flights available from Ahmedabad to Nairobi?
Direct flight schedules can change, and travellers may need a connecting flight. Riviera Tours & Travel can compare suitable routes based on baggage allowance, connection time, arrival schedule and overall fare.
Is the Arusha-to-Zanzibar flight included?
No. The supplied itinerary specifically states that the flight from Arusha to Zanzibar is not included in the quoted cost. It must be booked and priced separately.
Why is the Arusha-to-Zanzibar flight recommended?
Flying reduces travel time between the Northern Tanzania safari circuit and Zanzibar. It is more practical than travelling overland and then taking a ferry, especially within a 13-day itinerary.
What travel permission is needed for Kenya?
Most international visitors must obtain a Kenya Electronic Travel Authorisation, or eTA, before travelling unless they qualify for an exemption. Indian travellers should verify the latest requirements through Kenya’s official eTA portal before departure.
Do Indian passport holders need a visa for Tanzania?
Indian passport holders generally require appropriate permission to enter Tanzania. Tanzania provides an official electronic visa system, and tourists normally apply under the applicable visitor category. Requirements should be reconfirmed before application.
Are the Kenya eTA and Tanzania visa the same?
No. Kenya and Tanzania have separate immigration systems. Travellers may need a Kenya eTA and a separate Tanzania visa or entry authorisation depending on their nationality and current regulations.
Can Riviera Tours & Travel help with both countries’ entry documents?
Riviera Tours & Travel can provide documentation guidance for the Kenya eTA and Tanzania visa process. Final approval remains entirely with the respective immigration authorities and cannot be guaranteed.
Is separate travel insurance required for Zanzibar?
Zanzibar currently operates an official inbound travel-insurance requirement for foreign visitors. Travellers should verify and purchase the applicable policy through the authorised Zanzibar portal before travel, even if they already hold another travel-insurance policy.
Is a yellow fever vaccination certificate required?
Because the itinerary enters Tanzania after travelling through Kenya, travellers may be asked for a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate under the applicable entry rules. Requirements depend on age, medical eligibility, route and current regulations, so travellers should consult an authorised vaccination centre well before departure.
Are vaccinations and health precautions necessary for this safari?
Travellers should obtain personalised medical advice regarding yellow fever, malaria prevention and routine vaccinations. Health recommendations depend on the route, season, age and medical history of each traveller.
How is the Kenya–Tanzania border crossed?
The itinerary travels from Masai Mara to Serengeti through the Isebania land border. Travellers complete Kenyan exit and Tanzanian entry formalities before continuing to the Serengeti.
How long does the Masai Mara-to-Serengeti journey take?
It is a long, full-day transfer involving road travel and immigration formalities at the Isebania border. The itinerary estimates approximately nine to ten hours, but the actual journey can vary according to lodge location, road conditions and border processing.
Will the same safari vehicle operate in Kenya and Tanzania?
This must be confirmed in the quotation. Some tours require a vehicle or driver change at the border because Kenya and Tanzania have different operating arrangements.
Can travellers see the Big Five on this safari?
The route provides opportunities to see lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes and rhinos. However, wildlife moves freely, and no responsible travel agency or safari guide can guarantee sightings of every species.
Is the Great Migration included in the tour?
The itinerary visits both Masai Mara and Serengeti, which form part of the wider migration ecosystem. However, migration herds and river crossings depend on rainfall, natural movement and travel dates, so sightings cannot be guaranteed.
What is the best time for the Great Migration?
The migration moves through different parts of the Serengeti–Mara ecosystem throughout the year. Travel dates should be selected according to the area where the herds are expected, but wildlife movement remains unpredictable.
What is the best time to visit Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar?
The drier periods are generally popular for safari travel and wildlife viewing. Zanzibar can be visited for much of the year, although weather, rainfall, prices and wildlife locations vary by season.
Are game drives included every day?
Game drives are included only on the days specifically mentioned in the itinerary. These include Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara.
Are safari park entry fees included?
The itinerary does not clearly confirm park and conservation fees. The final quotation should separately state whether park entry fees, crater fees, concession fees and local taxes are included.
What accommodation is provided during the tour?
The itinerary mentions city hotels, safari lodges or camps and a Zanzibar hotel but does not specify property names or categories. The confirmed quotation should list every property, room type, meal plan and alternative hotel policy.
Are meals included throughout the tour?
Most safari days list breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nairobi does not include arrival-day lunch or dinner, while some Zanzibar days exclude lunch. Travellers should check the final day-by-day meal plan before booking.
Can vegetarian or Indian meals be arranged?
Vegetarian meals can usually be requested in advance, but Indian food may not be available at every remote safari lodge. Riviera Tours & Travel should record dietary requirements before confirming the hotels.
Are alcoholic drinks and personal expenses included?
They should be treated as excluded unless specifically stated in the quotation. Travellers should check charges for beverages, laundry, tips, telephone use, minibar items and personal purchases.
What optional activities are available in Masai Mara?
The itinerary lists a Masai village visit, Masai dancers and a hot-air balloon safari as optional experiences. Prices and availability must be reconfirmed for the selected travel dates.
Is the Masai Mara balloon safari included in the package price?
No. The balloon safari is an optional activity at an additional cost. The stated approximate price should be reconfirmed because operating rates can change.
What luggage should travellers carry on safari?
Soft-sided luggage is usually more convenient in safari vehicles and small aircraft. Travellers taking the Arusha–Zanzibar flight should check the airline’s baggage limits before packing because they may be lower than international-flight allowances.
Can Zanzibar sightseeing be added?
Yes. Subject to time and availability, travellers can request Stone Town, a spice-farm visit, a beach excursion, a sunset cruise or other Zanzibar experiences. None of these should be advertised as included unless confirmed in writing.
Can more nights be added in Zanzibar?
Yes. The itinerary can be customised with additional Zanzibar nights, different beach areas or upgraded resorts. Any changes will affect flights, transfers and the total package price.
Can this tour be shortened?
Yes, but removing destinations may improve the travel pace more than reducing nights from every location. A shorter itinerary could focus on Masai Mara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Zanzibar.
Can Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar be booked as a luxury tour?
Yes. Travellers can request premium lodges, luxury tented camps, private safari vehicles, fly-in transfers and luxury Zanzibar resorts. The final price will depend on season, accommodation and internal-flight availability.
What affects the cost of a Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar package?
The main cost factors are travel dates, international flights, safari lodge category, private or shared vehicle, park fees, internal flights, number of travellers and Zanzibar hotel category.
Does the package price remain the same throughout the year?
No. Airfares, lodge prices, park fees, conservation charges, fuel costs and seasonal supplements can change. A price should only be treated as confirmed after receiving a dated quotation.
Can Riviera Tours & Travel arrange the complete journey?
Yes. Depending on the selected package, Riviera Tours & Travel can coordinate flights, hotels, safari lodges, airport transfers, cross-border transportation, game drives, Zanzibar arrangements, travel insurance and visa-documentation guidance.

Provide valid passport details and the documents requested by the respective immigration systems. Riviera Tours & Travel can offer application guidance, but travellers must provide accurate information and immigration approval cannot be guaranteed.

Adding extra nights or Zanzibar sightseeing
Tell the travel team which activities or additional nights you want before flights are ticketed. The itinerary and transfers can then be adjusted without creating unnecessary schedule conflicts.
What should be checked before confirming the safari?
Review the route, hotel names, room category, safari vehicle, park fees, border arrangements, meals, flights, visas, Zanzibar insurance, optional activities, exclusions and cancellation policy.
When should this East Africa safari be booked?
