General Information about Russia
Russia - the largest country by the area in the world, it is located in several climatic zones, distinguished by the variety of forms of relief, has a rich history, and it is the home to hundreds of large and small nations, and therefore you can find a variety of attractions to suit all tastes
It's hard to imagine something more complex, diverse and multi-piece to describe than the huge country Russia. Here there is the elegant architecture of Petersburg. And wide and well-dressed capital - Moscow, headed by Ivan the Great bell tower. And the cradle of Russian statehood ancient Novgorod and Pskov, the Volga river in Yaroslav and Kazan, and the famous "Russian pocket" - Nizhny Novgorod. As well as the great Siberian expanses with a variety of natural attractions and ancient cities that seem completely beyond the limits of the Far East, so rich in beauty, Kohl and harsh climate. Russia is so big and diverse that everyone will find here something interesting for yourself.
For some it's the endless expanses of steppe, taiga herbs, blooming in the spring tundra. Another liked the rich architectural monuments of major cities, where life never stops for a minute. And someone can go to the conquest of the little-investigated villages and remote towns, keep the spirit of bygone times. But you never know what else you can do on the expanse from the Baltic to the Pacific Ocean ?! It is very difficult to describe Russia, everybody will find there own angle of view.
Moscow and St. Petersburg
Both capital from year to year like a magnet attract hundreds of thousands of tourists. Museums, art galleries, palaces, churches, monasteries, monuments, historic buildings, gardens and parks, theaters and concert halls, skating rinks, and water parks - all this in abundance, in the North, in the official capital. It is unreal to go to all possible excursions in one visit. The cultural life is in full swing, and in St. Petersburg and Moscow: festivals, fairs, exhibitions, sporting events - in other words, and for the mass event tourism opportunities.
Special places of interest are the suburbs of St. Petersburg (Tsarskoye Selo, Pavlovsk, Lomonosov, Peterhof), as well as charming manor and cozy little town, necklace scattered in the Moscow region (Abramtzevo, Ostafyevo, Arkhangelsk, Klin, Serpukhov, Chekhov). From Moscow, convenient to start in the cities of the Golden Ring of Russia, and in St. Petersburg is a sin not to take a ride on the scenic Karelia (and from there to get to Valaam) or go for a couple of days in Veliky Novgorod.
Gold ring cities
The most popular (after Moscow and St. Petersburg) and is certainly one of the most fascinating destinations in Russia - The Golden Ring - a real treasure house of Russian culture. Extension of united under this name a couple of dozen of wonderful ancient Russian cities, introducing curious travelers to the ancient history of Russia. Aside from the obvious excursion tourism in the cities of the Golden Ring is gaining momentum and event tourism. And compatriots and foreigners are always curious to go on national holidays and public festivals, take part in them directly.
Language
An important problem is the language barrier. Russian language is based on Cyrillic, so reading or at least the interpretation of the inscriptions and texts made in Russian, for the majority of tourists from Western countries is an extremely difficult task, as their alphabet based on the Latin alphabet and transliteration pointers and translation of texts found in Russia often. You can also note the almost complete absence in Russia of pointers to the usual attractions for foreign tourists (light brown) color. Although the situation is gradually changing, and now you can find the road signs being duplicates from the Latin text. In addition, very few people outside of Moscow and St. Petersburg can communicate in English, even though almost all Russian schools is taught in English.
But in the both Capitals of Russia: St-Petersburg and Moscow, you will not find so many difficulties with communications.
Money
Russian currency - the Russian ruble. At the moment in Russia widely accepted use of local currency to pay any other money almost never happens. Change the currency in the province is somewhat more complicated than in Moscow and St. Petersburg, but almost always it is the task doable (especially if you want to buy rubles): this service provides almost all banks.
Russian climate-- General information
Russia - a truly unique country, the likes of which in scope in the world simply does not exist. The length of the country from north to south is about 4 thousand kilometers, and from west to east is more than 10 thousand kilometers. It is not surprising that at such a scale climate in Russia is striking in its diversity.
The territory of Russia is located in four climatic zones: arctic, subarctic, temperate and subtropical. Each of them has its own temperature, its rainfall, etc. Furthermore, climate change in Russia is connected with the topography: weather conditions in the mountains can differ significantly from the weather in the adjacent plains.
Perhaps the variety of climatic conditions - it's one of the advantages for tourists who want to spend their holidays in Russia. After all, anyone can choose exactly the weather that appeal to him. Fans of the sun and heat will prefer places with the mildest climate in Russia (Black Sea coast), and more hardy go to Siberia, to the "pole of cold"
The weather in 2 major cities - St-Petersburg and Moscow is mild and warm during summer (+15/+25 May - September), little cool in March and November (+3/+8) and around 0 (Zero) in December - February with nice snow wheather
