You’ll get to watch as the crew assembles your heat-powered flying machine, the very first technology that allowed humanity to take to the skies. Lift-off is at sunrise, but the early start is definitely worth it for the views you’ll be treated to as you float over the rolling vineyards and lush meadows that the wine lands are so famous for."

This is where we anchor for an up-close encounter with great whites. The cage is dropped at the diving site and guests are allocated diving gear. Guests take consecutive turns in the eight-man floating cage to experience thrilling underwater views of this majestic apex predator

Best time to visit South Africa

While South Africa is an all-weather destination, you need to choose your season with care especially if you have wildlife viewing in mind. The South African weather is marked by two distinct seasons; the dry season and the rainy season. Within that the dry season picks up in June and goes on through October. Rain showers at this time are few and far between as the climate is typically cool and sunny. Pick the cooler months between May and September to head out for a game drive because the chances of spotting the Big Five are higher as they come out to graze. For a camping safari, this however, may not be the ideal time as the nights tend to get quite nippy. Cape Town, for instance, has a hot and dry summer between November and February. But for those interested in a coastal drive to Hermanus to watch the migration of the southern right whales, July to November is an ideal time. The northern part of South Africa receives rains between November and February, a time highly preferred by ardent birders. December is South Africa’s high season, frequent thunderstorms notwithstanding. Christmas holidays bring in crowds to its beaches from all over the world spiking up accommodation rates.

There are also two body slides – the Tarantula and the Scorpion, and two tube rides – the Viper and the Mamba.

The Lazy River offers a gentle, non-stop tube ride around an island while The Royal Baths swimming pool beside the Amphitheatre offers a place to soak up some warm sun rays, cocktail in hand.

There are also a number of walkways through tropical forests surrounding Valley of Waves. Here you can explore and discover the Spider Web Sway Bridge, hidden cave waterfalls, rare plant varieties and more.

What are you waiting for? Enter this famous Sun City water park from the Entertainment Centre and make your way across the Bridge of Time.  The bridge erupts every hour in an exciting, theatrical display of vibrations, rumbling volcanic sounds and smoke.

Although the extensive system of tunnels and chambers go on for over 4 km (2.5 mi), only about a quarter of this is open to visitors, who may proceed into the cave only in groups supervised by a guide (If you are pregnant or suffer from claustrophobia, high blood pressure, asthma or any muscular ailments, this tour is NOT suitable for you)

Classic Safaris

The varied habitats on Mabula Private Game Reserve provide ideal conditions for an astounding selection of large mammals including the Big Five, other predators such as Hyena and Jackal, and a variety of antelope from Red Hartebeest to Eland, Gemsbok to Blesbok. That’s not to mention the elusive cheetah, cheeky honey badger and the omnipresent crèches of warthogs that flit across one’s path during your safari at Mabula Game Lodge.

Safaris are offered to lodge guests twice a day – once early morning and again in time for sundowners in the late afternoon, and depending on the time of year you visit, each experience can be unique. Watch the vivid change of the seasons as the green thickets and grasslands give way to the bushveld greys and yellows of autumn. Feel the chilly winter air on your cheeks before sunrise and witness the rebirth of the bush as the first summer rains fall and with it the exciting arrival of lambing season.
